Colombo, April 15 (Daily Mirror) - Health authorities have noticed a significant decrease in accidents, notably firecracker-related incidents, during the festive season.
According to Deputy Director of the Colombo National Hospital Dr Rukshan Bellana, there were no admissions due to firecracker-related accidents during the period
However, three patients sought treatment at the outpatient department for minor injuries at the National Hospital.
Furthermore, there were only a few incidents of motor accidents, domestic accidents including falling. Nevertheless, none of the incidents were critical.

Simply why? Why? Poverty because they have no money to spend on cracers, fuel to travel or heavily taxed alcohol to consume.

Exactly. People are not spending on items they can’t afford any longer. Priority is to have 3 square meals, school expenses, medical expenses etc. The joyous mood is curtailed which is stressful and leading to mental issues.

People did what they had to do! The ordinary person, not so called ‘rich’ or politicians, yesterday only shopping places were open and they were packed. One main reason was the auspicious time! First time in my life I was asleep when the main cracker lighting time came. Had a peaceful meal the following morning.
