While ensuring that there is no Aflatoxin chemical is present in excess of the prescribed amount in Triposha products distributed in the country, Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd emphasised that there should be no doubt over the quality of Triposha and claimed that Triposha is safe to consume.
Thriposha Ltd Chairman Deepthi Kularathna said that it has not been confirmed that Triposha contains more than the prescribed amount of carcinogen Aflatoxin.
"This is a fabricated story to spread fear among mothers. "These kinds of fake statements will bring down the mentality of mothers in the current economic and food shortage situation in the country," he said.
"There are mothers who are satisfied with the Thriposha pack. Therefore, the chairman requested the mothers to not fear taking Thriposha.
"Thriposha has become a wholesome nutritional food for mothers and even for children," Kularathna said.
We manufactured Thriposha mainly for the nourishment of mothers and children. He said now we have issued another Thriposha brand called "Suposha" for the children who are five years and above.
"The news on Aflatoxin in Thriposha was spread maliciously. The chairman confirmed that if there is an excess in the Aflatoxin level, it will definitely cause cancer. But no report was to prove that there is a higher proportion of Aflatoxin is present in the Thriposha and the related products," the Chairman reiterated.
Moreover, he lamented that they could not find a maize without Aflatoxin. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
