A senior doctor at the National Eye Hospital, Dr. Prasad Colombage today requested not to expose children and people to direct sunlight as it may directly affect their eyes.
Addressing the media, he said the eyes would be damaged if exposed to direct sunlight.
The doctor advised the people to wear sunglasses of good quality and also wear caps to prevent exposing their eyes to direct sunlight.
"Too much exposure to direct sunlight raises the risk of eye diseases and other problems, and a few of the eye conditions can be avoided by wearing sunglasses," Dr. Colombage said.
Exposure to direct sunlight can cause vomiting, dizziness or fainting and it is normal and better to seek medical treatment from a doctor.
