Foreign Minister Ali Sabry said in Geneva that a domestic truth seeking mechanism would be set up to ensure justice and reconciliation.

Addressing a press conference via Zoom , he said Sri Lanka would engage with the Tamil Diaspora groups that shun violence and separatism.

Asserting that the Prevention of Terrorism Act would be repealed , he said a new counter terrorism law would be introduced to deal with terrorism while protecting the sovereignty of the country.

The president with no public mandate and the defence secretary who is working hard to cling to his job and perks are after the Aragalaya members. The Aragalaya will continue until a president with a public mandate is appointed. The UNHRC will have to support this endeavour.

I think Geneva initially looked for domestic mechanisms and gave some time. As it did not work they established other offices. Probably difficult to convince Geneva now.

Domestic Truth Mechanism? what a load of crap! Just in time before the resolution comes up on Thursday. Remember his presentation during the UNCHR opening session? It was an arrogant, egoistic, snubbish talk about only a domestic mechanism and no foreign monitoring intervention. These idiots who have been representing Sri Lanka over the years have scant respect to following up on their promises. The only way forward is to clean up our corrupt political and economic landscape, even if it means having to swallow a bitter pill. He should stop playing to the gallery - the pohottuwas and their followers. First of all, he should be held accountable for burying all legal cases against the ex-President and the Rajapakse family.
