Colombo, Jan. 22 (Daily Mirror) - The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) said doctors attached to the National Eye Hospital in Colombo will engage in a token strike today.

GMOA Media Spokesman Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said the doctors will commence the strike from 8.00 a.m. in protest against the hospital’s annual transfer procedure.

Meanwhile, the GMOA warned that if the proposals submitted by the association to safeguard the free public health service are not implemented, it is prepared to launch continuous trade union action from tomorrow.

Dr. Wijesinghe further said that if solutions to the prevailing issues are not provided today, the association is in discussions to resort to further action.
