What a freak accident? Deepest sympathies to family and friends. Batticaloa/Ratnaputa/Colombo buses normally have doors and this bus appear to have no doors. Very likely the Doctor would have occupied the seat opposite the rear door and could have been half asleep when the driver braked and the jerk caused her to fall off the bus. Seat belt wearing is compulsory now in the long distance buses so we may not hear such unfortunate accidents in the future

It has become a gamble with our lives when we get on to a private or a CTB bus. More than everything else the crew should be ingrained in their minds on passenger safety. This case may be a tragic accident that the driver is not at fault but how many near misses we encounter when drivers are in an insane hurry to pull on and endangering the lives especially of elderly people.

The three wheeler drivers are the cause for the misery everywhere creeping into corners snd overtaking, always selfish never following lane discipline. Politicians of the past are responsible for this misery for allowing imports of cheap three wheelers and having very relaxed driver tests to get license and not having stringent laws and monitoring of road traffic.

Three wheelers and motor cycles are the main cause of most accidents today.In addition bus drivers too drive recklessly scaring motorists to move away from their driving lane haphazardly in order to overtake another bus.Those driving in huge expensive Land cruises too have a habbit of flashing their lights to the motorists in front to drive at high speeds for them to get across. All these nonsense must end.The government should implement tough laws like in foreign countries,to bring in a safe and proper road culture.

Sad and very sad indeed, I feel sorry for the family of this lovely Dr : what a tragedy is this and how many dreams she might have ? Some time we can’t explain some extraordinary evident like this ? Really unbelievable and unfortunate. My heart goes to this family and my sympathy and empathy.. I don’t know if this a human mistake or fate or or negligence or what else ? But we as human beings don’t have much say about events like this , it is a great lost not only for her family but also a great lost to the country and humanity . Very Sad to hear such accident due to unsafe drivers on the road . Three wheel riders and Motorcyclists are the very unsafe riders on the road while private bus drivers are the next or all are the same . However loosing a human life even an animal life due to such a horrific and dangerous way could not afford to any country . Especially in this case a much valuable human who had very long potential to serve to the country and looked after her family is an unbearable lost that can't go with out finding solutions to such road accidents increased in recent time .

Is the National Transport Commission still with its head tucked under the sand, not taking responsibility nor accountability for any of the fatal accidents and crashes happening day in and day out snuffing out life? Isn't it NTCs duty to be the citizen's voice to implement a proper public transport protocol? Where are the standards that are required of private busses playing on public roads? No doors in buses, unsupervised drivers and conductors, some driving under influence of liquor and substances, mechanical failures such as 'brakes not working', unroadworthy buses plying on the roads? When are you going to take proper action to make citizens safe from theses marauding monsters?
