Do not raise third party concerns with US-SL tells USA, Japan

Sri Lanka has informed the United States and Japan to have direct dialogue regarding matters of their own geopolitical concerns but not those of any third party, Daily Mirror learns.

Daily Mirror reliably learns that Foreign Minister Ali Sabry conveyed such a message to these countries when he met with their representatives including U.S. Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland in recent times.

The minister had a series of bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Mr. Sabry is reported to have requested these countries to raise their concerns on any matter directly but not those of any third country.

Sri Lanka is currently under trilateral pressure involving India, Japan and the U.S. over the planned visit of the Chinese research vessel ‘Shi Yang 6’.

China insists that the ship visit should take place in October though Sri Lanka wants it to be deferred till November. (Kelum Bandara)

So called researches have done nothing for this country. People don't like to see any 'resesrch' or military ship. Given the situ all doubtfull vessels must be baned.

Nilmini, To be truthful, you may be right and we have to see what comes at the end of the Fracas!!!??? The injuns are Shivering and Dithering, in their ‘MUD-HOLE’ or their “smelly” Open-Air Toilet !? If this is true then the foreign minister needs to be congratulated as a hero since no other Sri Lankan politician was able to speak with America, Japan, or India so frankly and directly. Now, Indians can’t use other countries to put pressure on Sri Lanka to stop the Chinese vessel docking in a Sri Lankan port.

There were a few comments above which really understand why CHINA is insisting the Ship arrives in our waters. Anyone who is watching the world news if not sitting in your homes on a TV, online world news is available online. CHINA has got and or soon will some underdeveloped countries into a debt trap and or soon will and if some of you do not have a insight into what's happening around the world and in and around Sri Lanka, it is a sad state of affairs. USA, JAPAN and INDIA are aligned countries along with some other countries that want to make sure that NO Military BASES pop up in any underdeveloped countries who end up duped into accepting massive loans that they cannot and probably will NEVER be able to repay, ending up with CHINA obtaining a 99 year lease on property/properties they have built and developed with monies they loan out to countries who have politicians who are riddled in corruption to the CORE.
