Colombo, Feb 18 (Daily Mirror) - The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced a disruption to the water supply due to the prevailing extreme dry weather conditions.
According to the NWSDB, water levels in sources are rapidly decreasing due to the ongoing drought, while water consumption has surged as people cope with the heat.
Given the limited availability of drinking water, the NWSDB urges the public to use water responsibly, ensuring it is distributed fairly for essential drinking and sanitary needs.
To conserve water, the NWSDB requests that people minimise activities such as washing vehicles and gardening, using water only for necessary daily tasks.
The statement further noted that under these circumstances, residents in highland areas may experience low water pressure as the system prioritises meeting drinking water demands.
However, the NWSDB is making every effort to reduce public inconvenience caused by the dry weather and advises consumers to use safe drinking water as sparingly as possible.
For inquiries, the public can contact the NWSDB Call Center at 1939.
