Colombo, July 12 (Daily Mirror)- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today that the on-going dialogue with the United States will continue in order to secure additional concessions.
He said that as a result of recent discussions with the United States, the previously imposed reciprocal tariff rate was successfully reduced from 44% to 30%.
The President said that the objective of the government is to implement changes that will benefit the country's economy, businesses, the business community and the well-being of its citizens.
The President made these remarks while participating in a discussion held this morning at the Presidential Secretariat with all stakeholders in the export sector.
The meeting focused on the progress of discussions related to the new reciprocal tariff policy that the United States is expected to implement, the current situation and the economic challenges Sri Lanka may face in implementing this policy, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
