The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has introduced a digital platform to coordinate and follow up the ongoing and forthcoming bilateral as well as multilateral treaties, agreements and Memoranda of Understanding with the inter-ministerial stakeholders.

The objective of this initiative is to ensure rigorous follow-up, real-time monitoring and comprehensive performance evaluation pertaining to these treaties, agreements and MoUs signed between Sri Lanka and foreign nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry along with State Minister of Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya launched this innovative digital follow-up mechanism recently.

I'm loving this! Our country is finally on the right path, and it's about time! Digitalization must've been taking the scenic route all this while, but hey, better late than never, right?

Let's make a list of digitalizations started with much publicity in ministries and government departments, say, during the last five years. Then, check how many of those projects were completed and are fully operational. Recent COPE meetings revealed the pathetic state of data and information handling in many government ministries and departments that have spent enormous amounts to computerze records.
