Digital Ministry moves to stop spread of weather misinformation

Colombo, Nov. 29 (Daily Mirror) - The government is working with relevant institutions to identify and remove fake social media posts and news items that mislead the public with false information related to the ongoing adverse weather conditions, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne said.

He urged the public not to rely on unverified updates circulating on social media platforms, and instead to follow state media and other official channels for accurate and timely information.

Authorities said efforts are underway to curb the spread of misinformation, which has caused unnecessary panic during a critical period for the country.
