A social activist today filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal seeking an order declaring State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage is disqualified to be a Member of Parliament since she is a British citizen.

Social activist Oshala Herath filed this petition seeking an order in the nature of a Writ of Quo Warranto declaring that Diana Gamage is disqualified to be a Member of Parliament and is thus not entitled to hold office as a MP. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Depending on what she tells the courts in Sri Lanka. I am also planning on filing a petition in the UK courts as well as make a complaint to the UK Home secretary. If she tells the courts that she is not a UK citizen then they should cancel her British citizenship. I have a copy of her citizenship !. If she denies it I am going to argue that she has obtained it by fraudulent means.

Diana, when she applied for a British passport, had to surrender her SL passport to the British Passport Agency as per the instructions issued by the SL High Commission, London, before her application could proceed. Then when she applied for dual citizenship/a SL passport after obtaining a UK passport, there are sections in the application form to furnish details of current citizenship.(I had to...!) So how did she wriggle through these needle holes?

Why only Diana? There are far more MPs with dual citizenship. It's the speaker's damned duty to immediately get the relevant information from the Controller General of immigration and then fire these Crooks. It is not only that these scum bags fraudulently obtain salaries, vehicles, residences and more, but more importantly, any law or other resolution passed in Parliament or Government is invalid insofar as these dual nationals were involved. To prevent such damage, Parliament and ministers would have to be suspended until the matter was resolved.
