Colombo, May 28 (Daily Mirror) - Deputy Minister warns of administrative shake-up in Railways Dept.
Deputy Minister of Transport Dr. Prasanna Gunasena today criticized the inefficiency within the Railways Department, warning that administrative control could be transferred if the current situation persists.
Speaking to media after attending the Kandy District Coordinating Committee, Dr. Gunasena expressed concern over the deteriorating state of affairs in the department.
The District Coordinating Committee met at the Kandy District Secretariat.
“A handful of individuals have resorted to acts of sabotage, but everyone in the department is held responsible. However, the inefficiency of the department causes inconvenience to the ordinary people travelling by train. Majority of the officials including Station Masters, guards and drivers are rendering a dedicated service to maintain the efficiency of the department. However , it is a clear indication that the administration of the department is quite inefficient” He further said.
