Dengue death toll rises to 61 as cases surpass 81,500



Colombo, July 26 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka’s dengue death toll has risen to 61 this year, while the total number of reported cases has increased to 81,511, according to the latest data released by the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

The NDCU said July has become the worst-affected month of the year so far, with 26,136 cases reported to date.

The Unit further noted that 47,670 dengue infections have been recorded during June and July combined.

The Western Province remains the hardest-hit region, accounting for 43,132 cases.

District-wise, Gampaha has reported the highest number of infections with 17,280 cases, followed by Colombo with 16,213 cases.
