Democratic Party raises concern over arrest of Ranil Wickremesinghe

Colombo, August 25 (Daily Mirror) - The Democratic Party has expressed deep concern over the arrest of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, warning that it signals a dangerous trend of “vindictive and destructive politics” in Sri Lanka.

Issuing an official statement, the Party said Sri Lanka’s democracy, despite being stronger than many in the region, continues to face the challenge of political revenge.

“Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s arrest, as predicted by a YouTuber, is deeply concerning. Such actions reflect a disturbing trend that undermines our institutions and future. Sri Lanka deserves a politics of reason and stability,” the statement read.

The party further raised alarm over the role of social media influencers in legal and political affairs, noting that YouTuber ‘Sudha’ had publicly claimed Wickremesinghe would be arrested before any judicial decision was made.

“Before former President Ranil Wickremesinghe recorded a statement, a YouTuber said he would be arrested yesterday. Before the judge decides, ‘YouTube Sudha’ gives the verdict. This is very concerning and needs to be investigated in order to protect democracy in Sri Lanka,” it added.

So your party accepts corruption even if it’s done by a President. The issue is Ranil falsified his private visit to UK by claiming it from the Taxpayers funds. Majority of the average citizen doesn’t accept this theory. Maybe your party accepts corruption as majority are from the Elite class and corrupt is part and parcel of life!

Anyone can predict - that does not mean it is the guaranteed outcome. We all do that for elections, cricket matches etc. etc., part of our culture. If you look closely many Youtubers are predicting very interesting theories., but being gullible is the problem.
