Death of Dinesh Schaffter: Court calls for Govt. Analyst’s reports

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today issued an order directing the CID to obtain the Government Analyst's reports on the productions referred to him by court regarding the investigations into the death of businessman Dinesh Schaffer.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya observed that the court is yet to receive the analytical reports pertaining to the case productions including several blood samples which have already been referred to the Government Analyst.

The Additional Magistrate ordered the CID to take necessary steps to obtain these reports from the Government Analyst.

Meanwhile, the Additional Magistrate said there is a posibility of sending a reminder to the Government Analyst about these reports, if necessary.

The body of businessman Dinesh Shaffter was recently exhumed in the presence of a panel of medical experts who were appointed to perform a fresh post mortem inquiry to ascertain the cause of death. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

There are so many other instances where government resources can be better spent. The deceased was trying to carry out insurance scam. And only reason there is much attention on it is that his father wants to hide the facts from becoming public. All there objections are smoke and mirrors long enough for them to try get the insurance money.

What are the authorities trying to hide ? Does this family deserve this harassment ? RW come on and get your act together. You can catch all the Aragalaya ppl and frame them for expressing their freedom. You can have you house rebuilt with state money in flash but you can’t assist in solving this mystery. We wonder why ?

Very very sleepy courts, they ask for something or other once in a blue moon. They will drag this for next 20 years at the minimum. The lawyers are the one who will make the best out of these cases. Extremely poor system.
