Danish woman missing since four days while hiking Alagalla mountain

A 32-year-old woman from Denmark has reportedly gone missing while hiking on the Alagalla mountain in Kadugannawa, police said.

They said the woman who had arrived in the country on 26 June was touring alone. She had reportedly checked into the Kandy Backpackers Hostel on 10 July.

She had reportedly indicated to the management of the hostel that she was going on a hike and when she had not returned to the hostel at night last Tuesday (11) the management had informed about her disappearance to the Kandy Police.

Police had then broken into her room and found some of her belongings inside.

Sources said the police had told the hostel management that they would wait a day to see whether she would return.

Accordingly, the Police and the STF launched a joint operation yesterday to locate the Danish woman as she had not returned.(DSB)
