Cyclone Ditwah leaves thousands homeless across Sri Lanka

Colombo, Dec. 16 (Daily Mirror) - Cyclone Ditwah has caused widespread destruction in Sri Lanka, completely destroying 6,200 houses and partially damaging 96,545 others, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported.

The majority of the destroyed homes are located in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, which bore the brunt of the cyclone’s impact.

Currently, 70,297 people from 22,348 families are taking refuge in 731 safe centres set up across affected areas, the DMC added. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide relief to displaced families.
