Customs clears backlog, eases congestion at Colombo Port



Colombo, June 29 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Customs Department has successfully completed the clearance of import containers that had caused significant congestion at the Colombo Port in recent weeks.

Customs Additional Director General and Media Spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda confirmed that the backlog, which had hampered port operations and disrupted the supply chain, has now been resolved. 

The expedited clearance process was carried out in coordination with relevant stakeholders to ensure smoother movement of cargo and minimize delays.

With the port now operating at normal capacity, authorities have assured importers and exporters of improved efficiency in handling shipments going forward.
