Colombo, July 30 (Daily Mirror) - Large crowds have already gathered in Kandy to witness the first Kumbal Perahera of the Kandy Esala Festival, set to parade through the city tonight.
Spectators have lined the streets along the perahera route in anticipation of the grand cultural pageant.
The first Kumbal procession will commence with the four Devala processions, from the Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Pattini Devalas—setting off at 6:46 p.m and arriving at the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic).
The main Kumbal Perahera is scheduled to begin at the auspicious hour of 7:05 p.m.
The procession will travel along D.S. Senanayake Street, Temple Road, Deva Veediya, Colombo Street, and return to the Sri Dalada Maligawa via Yatinuwara Veediya.
