Crisis aggravated after new govt., PM took over: AKD

Claiming that the economic crisis had aggravated after the newly-appointed Prime Minister and the government took over, National People's Power (NPP) MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today that the new government has also failed in a short period of time.

He told Parliament that the new government has failed to present any solution to the burning issues faced by the people and said a short-term action plan should be presented before the country.

He said people are dying in petrol and gas queues while cost of living has gone beyond the reach of the common man.

He also said that the President should be held responsible for this pathetic and unfortunate situation.

"This President is no longer eligible to take the responsibility of the people. The demand placed by the people that he should go home is very much reasonable," he said.

MP Dissanayake said no solution to the crisis was discussed in Parliament and pointed out that they only conduct a mere talk show.

"Parliament no longer represents the voice of the people. No solution is brought in through Parliament. We will boycott the Parliamentary sessions this week," he said. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
