Crash landing of private aircraft: MD, Chief Engineer of Sakurai Aviation arrested

The Managing Director of Sakurai Aviation Ltd and its Chief Engineer have been arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) over the recent emergency landing of the light aircraft.

Two pilots and two foreign nationals have been injured after the light aircraft Cessna 172 belonged to Sakurai Aviation has made an emergency landing in the Dagonna area, Kimbulapitiya in December last year.

Operating aircraft belong to Sakurai Aviation Ltd have also been suspended following the incident until the investigations conducted into the incident are completed.

Police said the CCD arrested the MD and Chief Engineer of the private aviation for the negligence over the incident.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

What about the gas cylinder explosion which resulted in many injuries, deaths, and destruction to the property? Any impending arrests or swept under the carpet? One country, many laws. heights os hypocrasy.

I suppose the CID is like the US federal aviation administration that investigate such crashes. I can't understand the reason for the arrest, unless there was a conspiracy to crash the aircraft for insurance fraud.
