Colombo, Feb 28 (Daily Mirror) - The Court of Appeal today issued an interim order preventing the authorities from proceeding with the divestiture process of the Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, until March 12.

The Court of Appeal made this order pursuant to a writ petition filed by Lyca Leasing Holding Limited and HAIMS International Limited challenging the refusal to consider the petitioners’ application for prequalification in the Request for Qualification (RFQ) for the strategic divestiture of 51.34% of the Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC.

Upon the oral submissions made by President’s Counsel Kuvera De Zoysa, Court of Appeal Justice D.N. Samarakoon issued notices on respondents, returnable for March 12.

The petitioners named Minister of Finance Ranil Wickremesinghe, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, the members of the special Cabinet-appointed negotiating committee for the purpose of selecting pre-qualified bidders for the strategic divestiture pertaining to 51.34% shares of Lanka Hospitals PLC and several others as respondents.

Kuvera De Zoysa, PC with Raslka Dissanayake, Sajana de Zoysa, Dinusha Pathirana and Shablr Huzalr instructed by Sanath Wijewardane appeared for the petitioners.

Is Lyca mobile a money laundering outfit making the blood money of the LTTE terror outfit white through FDIs? Overseas Tamils who fought hard and donated their money to the LTTE to gain equality and fair play should think clearly if they are also now complicit in illegal acts done by the LTTE fronts or the wolves in sheep clothing who are now benefitting from all those donations made for a cause.

Having known Mr Shah in a professional capacity for over four decades and he would never stoop to such activities and tarnish his reputation. He would without any hesitation walk away with his head held high, rather than taint his career reputation.

He ran a very successful brewery operation and took the organisation forward on great strides. In addition he has headed up the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, has been a Council Member of the Moratuwa University, Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and a Member of the Monetary Policy Consultative Committee of the Central Bank. Wonder whether persons choosing to sneer a successful business leader can match those credentials?
