Colombo, March 6 (Daily Mirror) - The court staff member who was arrested over the alleged disappearance of 12 kilos of heroin worth over Rs. 120 million, which was kept in the storeroom of the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, was today ordered to be further remanded till March 20 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali.
According to the CID, the suspect, Mohamed Nias Mohamed Nadmi, was the alleged caretaker of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court production room at the time of the disappearance.
In August last year, following a complaint by then Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage, the CID began an investigation into the disappearance of 12 kilos of heroin that had been kept as evidence in the court’s storeroom, where various items, including heroin, copper, ice, foreign liquor, illegal cigarettes, gold and more, seized by various police stations, are stored as productions for cases.
