Couple killed in Mahiyangana cab-tractor collision

Colombo, March 28 (Daily Mirror) - A husband and wife died following a head-on collision between a cab and a tractor in the Mahiyangana police area last night.

The accident occurred at the 3rd Mile Post area on the Mahiyangana-Girandurukotte road. According to initial reports, a cab travelling toward Girandurukotte had attempted to overtake another vehicle when it crashed against a tractor, arriving from the opposite direction.

Seven individuals, including the driver of the tractor, the driver of the cab, and passengers travelling in the back of the vehicle, were rushed to the Mahiyangana Hospital with injuries. 

A 57-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman succumbed to their injuries. The deceased have been identified as a married couple residing in the Mahiyangana area.

The Mahiyangana Police are conducting further investigations into the collision.
