The economic growth rate of the country will take a positive stand in the last quarter of this year, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya today said.
While addressing a meeting in Dehiowita he said although numerous international financial institutions have made various predictions, last year they were able to manage the country's economy beyond those predictions.
According to the World Bank forecasts, the economic growth rate of Sri Lanka for this year is said to be negative at 4.2.
According to the forecasts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the economic growth rate of Sri Lanka will be negative 3.0 this year, the State Minister said.
According to Central Bank forecasts, the economic growth rate in this country will be between negative 2 and 3.
However, the minister said that everyone should work with a determination to increase their contribution towards the national product, and accordingly, the economic growth rate of this country will see a positive note by the last quarter of this year. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
