Consumer Affairs Authority warns of toxic skin creams

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued a stern public warning following laboratory tests that uncovered dangerously high levels of heavy metals in several skin creams and lotions currently sold in the Sri Lankan market.

According to the CAA, the tested cosmetic products were found to significantly exceed the approved safety limits for heavy metal content, posing serious health risks to unsuspecting consumers.

Prolonged exposure to such substances can lead to severe skin damage, organ toxicity, and other long-term health complications.

In response to the findings, the CAA has published a list of the affected products along with their respective brand names.
