Constable interdicted for allegedly sitting on WPC’s lap

Colombo, July 18 (Daily Mirror) - A constable attached to the Makulugaswewa Police Station has been interdicted following allegations of misconduct involving a Woman Police Constable (WPC) while on duty.

According to the police, the incident occurred after the constable returned to the station from security duty at a musical concert held at the Dambulla Gamudawa Stadium on July 15. It is alleged that, upon returning to the station, the constable approached a female police constable who was seated and attempted to sit on her lap.

The WPC immediately reported the incident to the Officer-in-Charge (OIC), who informed the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in charge of the division. A preliminary inquiry was subsequently launched.

Investigations reportedly revealed that the constable was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Following the inquiry, the ASP ordered the immediate interdiction of the constable pending further disciplinary action.
