Colombo, March 15 (Daily Mirror)- The conductor of a private bus on the Moratuwa – Pettah route 101 was arrested on suspicion of picking pocket.
It is alleged that he was caught red handed when he stole the wallet of a passenger and a fellow passenger who had noticed it had revealed it to the owner. The passengers caught and handed him over to the police.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was a drug addict and that he had resorted to stealing the money and valuables of passengers.
The passenger who faced the incident was from Gampaha area travelling to Moratuwa.
Police suspect the conductor for his involvement in similar previous incidents.

Surely he did not have to pickpocket, he had enough Money collected by the passengers.

Impose mandatory canning for these kind of crimes plus long prison sentences. Need to curtail these crimes and prosecute them severely.

This is only a tip of the iceberg. So many conductors have connections with Pickpockets. Some conductors behave with passengers arrogantly and use dirty languages. Thanks to our 2500 years old noble culture.
