Colombo, Sept. 29 (Daily Mirror) - Serious concerns have been raised following the circulation of a post claiming the launch of an “LGBTQIA+ Sexual Wellbeing Clinic” at the National Hospital in Kandy.
The post, which invited the public to attend the opening, has been criticised for giving the wrong impression that the facility is exclusively for the LGBTQ community.
In reality, what was launched today (29) at the Kandy Hospital was a Healthy Sexual Lifestyle Clinic, open to all individuals.
When contacted, Kandy Hospital Director Dr. Erasha Fernando told the Daily Mirror that the post had been created without her knowledge.
“The clinic was established with the vision of creating a 'one-stop shop' for sexual health and wellbeing, accessible to everyone regardless of background and providing comprehensive care and guidance for anyone experiencing sexual health-related issues,” she clarified.
“The clinic’s purpose is to promote healthy sexual lifestyles, address medical and psychological concerns and ensure proper guidance is available for all patients,” she added.
