A comprehensive investigation has been launched into the deaths caused by an anaesthetic drug administered at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said today.

He told Parliament that the relevant doctors have been summoned to the Health Ministry today regarding the matter.

Responding to a question by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa regarding the deaths of two children at the Peradeniya Hospital due to the use of an anaesthetic drug, the Minister said the deaths that had occurred at the Peradeniya Children's Hospital were not due to the particular anaesthetic drug.
