Colombo, July 9 (Daily Mirror) - The Movement for People's Struggle has lodged a complaint with the Bribery Commission regarding alleged irregularities in the awarding of a tender for electricity distribution units required by Divisional Secretariats for the electronic identity card (e-ID) process.
Wasantha Mudalige, representing the Movement, claimed that Browns Engineering and Construction (Pvt) Ltd. was selected for the tender, with each unit priced at Rs. 72,517. The total value of the tender exceeds Rs. 50.7 million.
He alleged that the complaint involves possible fraudulent practices in the provision of equipment for Divisional Secretariats under the e-ID programme.
In response, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Public Administration had called for bids to procure 700 multi-plug type electricity distribution units.
