Colombo, August 26 (Daily Mirror) - I am compelled to go to the JVP headquarters and shout Anura, Anura, former MP Hirunika Premachandra said today.

"Society has gone down to the level wishing for the demise of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his wife Maithree Wickremesinghe. Some wish for the demise of Ms. Wickremesinghe despite her battle with cancer. Therefore, I am compelled to go to the JVP headquarters and shout Anura, Anura," she told journalists after coming to the Magistrate's Court in support of former President Wickremesinghe.

She said this recalling her act during the 2022 Aragalaya where she went in front of Wickremesinghe's residence and shouted 'Ranil, Ranil'.

I don't understand what the problem is here. It was the rule of law that led to Ranil's arrest. He shouldn't be allowed to go free just because he was a former president. If that's the way it works, then what should we do about Rajapakses? The law should apply equally to everyone, regardless of their status.
