Committee on High Posts approves new HC to Australia, Ambassador to Bahrain

Colombo, Feb 28 (Daily Mirror) - The Committee on High Posts has approved the appointment of a new Ambassador and High Commissioner.

Accordingly, the Committee on High Posts has recommended the name of Y.K. Gunasekara as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Australia and the name of S.S. Dissanayake as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The appointments were approved at a meeting of the Committee on High Posts.

How do you know that they are not related. Everyone is related to someone in Sri Lanka. As long as the person is qualified, there is nothing wrong in appointing anyone known to important positions. That is what all politicians in all countries do. It is not only qualifications that matters, the loyalty to the government and its leadership matters in carrying out important government duties.

You need people whose communication skills are exceptionally good and someone with confidence who can interact with the Australian Politicians and government servants. Someone who can stand tall and deal with important issues benefiting SL. Most of them come and hide within the walls of the embassy do absolute nothing wasting the funds of Sri Lanka. Absolutely no point having some paper qualifications if the person finds it difficult to interact with people from other cultures.

Don't appoint somebody like the previous High Commissioner to Australia who was a former girl friend of Gota who didn't have the necessary qualifications or the personality to be an High Commissioner in the first place. She even ripped off the Sri Lankan servant woman of her salary for three long years under her employment and no sick leave and having to work from morning untill mid night everyday. The High Commissionera was later gven a top job in the United Nations .
