Colombo, July 24 (Daily Mirror) - Mohamed Manilar Mohmed Arshad, a 45-year-old underworld figure and close associate of notorious gangster Kanjipani Imran, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Police said Arshad, who lived on Wolfendhal Street in Colombo, had fled to India without a visa or passport. He was later extradited to Sri Lanka by Indian authorities.

According to investigations, Arshad had first fled to Dubai in 2017. After a group of underworld figures, including Makandure Madush, were arrested during a birthday party at a hotel in Dubai in 2019, he had moved to India to avoid arrest.

It was revealed that his wife and children are still living in India and possess valid visas and passports.

Arshad has now been handed over to the Police Anti-Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
