A circular will be issued by next week to check the bags of schoolchildren in the morning to prevent drugs are brought into schools, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

In parliament he stated that previously, all schools adopted the practice of checking school bags in the morning with the support of the school development committee, parents, old boys, and girls and school prefects.

However, the practice was discontinued for unknown reasons. It was reported that certain discussions had taken place over drugs entering schools through schoolchildren.

Therefore, the Minister is to issue a circular to all schools through the provincial Education Director to check the school bags as these activities are done very carefully and methodically. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

This is nonsense .The one who do the drug businesses/ involve in drug business either they are in power or they supports government to become power. while the minister tries to handle the end result of it why not talk or make any action on your dear friends who are in parliament contribute Drug businesses .

In Britain the school pupils are “ very aggressive and have no respect for the teachers “. But the idiotic British culture and practices do not give the teachers any protection at all. Teachers getting beaten up by pupils in British schools is not something unheard of in Britain. Female Teachers have even been raped by school pupils . But if any teacher standup to the school thugs and call them as “criminals” is immediately sacked from the school for using “ inappropriate language “. This is the true Britain, a brainless country surviving in the riches it looted for 300 years in Asia and Africa.

While Sri Lanka is planing to check for drugs in school bags, in Europe the school students not just bring drugs to schools but they carry knives and other weapons in their school bags. The loop of failure in schools is being implemented. When will it end. Will clothing and undergarments be checked for 5g of drugs. With the school bag rule, no drugs will come through in school bags. Is this no point work for the military and police personnel who previously suppressed the university youth protests. Is again this more show of force and anything meaningful.

Great, put Army Women and Men or STF. not anyone else.Better use police dogs as well. There are many incidents where minor kids become drug transporters into the schools

SL is correct in saying that small children are used as transporters of drugs!! It is heard that they are offered money or candy in return for the favour of bringing a "parcel" for the aiyyas!!! Get rid of 3wheeler parks near schools and there are many!
