Chinese cybercrime suspect arrested and deported

Colombo, August 8 (Daily Mirror) - A Chinese man involved in cybercrimes in the Philippines who attempted to enter Sri Lanka was arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport this morning and deported by the Immigration and Emigration officers.

He had arrived from Kuala Lumpur this morning on a business visa and declared he would be employed by a business establishment in Sri Lanka. However, he had failed to furnish particulars about his position or designation.

Chief Immigration and Emigration Officer had referred him to the Border Surveillance Unit for further action.

He was in possession of an identity card issued by the Philippine government which revealed that he had been employed in an organisation responsible for cybercrimes which has been seized recently by the Philippine Police.

He was handed over to the AirAsia Airlines to be flown back to Kuala Lumpur.
