China-funded school uniform distribution completed for 2026

Colombo, April 10 (Daily Mirror) - The distribution of school uniform fabric provided as a grant by the People's Republic of China for the year 2026 has been successfully completed, the Education Ministry announced.

They said the total requirement of 11.484 million meters of uniform fabric for 2026 was fully supplied through the Chinese grant. The programme benefited 4,418,404 students across the country.

Recipients included students of government and government-aided schools, as well as student monks, nuns, and lay students studying at government-approved pirivenas.

The Ministry confirmed that the entire stock of uniform fabric has now been distributed, ensuring that all eligible students have received their allocations ahead of the new school term.
