Colombo, April 8 (Daily Mirror) - The prices of a kilogram of chicken and eggs appear to be increasing during the festive season, traders said.

They noted that an egg is currently being sold for between Rs. 39 and Rs. 40, while a kilogram of chicken is priced between Rs. 1,100 and Rs. 1,200.

According to the Peliyagoda Fish Market, fish prices have also increased.

That's the way it is all over the world. Time to embrace these price changes and be grateful things are still available. Stop spending on rubbish like fast food and cheap random things. Eat less but high quality food and grow at least a few of your own vegetables. It's good for health.

AKD is going to invite all chickens and pat on their back and ask them to be good chickens and lay more eggs. Then the problem is solved. Even chicken wants to meet AKD on the table.

This is madness!!! Every festive season be it the Sinhala/Tamil new year or Christmas the price of eggs and chicken goes up. Are the chickens turning gold and the eggs too turning gold during these seasons. It should actually be the opposite. Chicken and eggs should be lower in price including the vegetables during the festive season. These traders do these changes to their whims and fancies Where’s the price control??

Hey citizens, raise some chickens in your backyard. Then don't have to worry about market prices. In the good old days The poultry was a cottage industry. Nowadays, people are really lazy only watching TV and browsing the net on the smart phones. And complain about high prices.
