Through an extraordinary gazette notification, the Department for Registration (DRP) of Persons has revised the charges for issuing fresh and duplicate National Identity Cards (NICs).
Accordingly, Rs.200 should be paid in respect of an application for the fresh applicants with effect from November 1.
The charges for issuing duplicate NICs have been revised by Rs. 500 and will take effect from November 1. The new charge for issuing duplicate NICs will be Rs. 1,000.
The gazette was issued by the Public Security Minister Tiran Alles under Section 17(4) of the Registration of Persons Act, No. 32 of 1968. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
