Colombo, Feb. 14 (Daily Mirror)- Former president Chandrika Kumaratunge said she had not decided to support any candidate in the upcoming presidential election as reported by various media and social media platforms.

Office of the former president Kumaratunge said the reports published in mainstream media and social media platforms that she had offered to support various candidates in the upcoming presidential election are false.

"She has not decided to support any candidate so far," a statement issued by Ms. Kumaratunge's office said.

Ms. Kumaratunge also said she had not taken any decision to take up the leadership of the Leadership Council of the United People's Freedom Alliance as reported.

"Even though it was reported that Ms. Kumaratunge is to take up the leadership of the Leadership Council of the United People's Freedom Alliance, she has not taken any decision regarding that either," her office added.

It is sometimes shameful and shocking to read the nasty comments made about Chandrika, often out of ignorance of her achievements for the country! Like everyone who has held such an office, she made mistakes, but she was a president in difficult times who risked her life to lead Sri Lanka!!! She was a politician respected in the world, not only for her political wisdom, her charisma and for what she did for the country! This also applies to other of the Bandaranaikes!!! The malice and spite in the historical aftermath are out of place and obviously come from people who did not live in the middle of their time! She stands out positively from many male predecessors and successors who "can't hold a candle to her politically!"

It was your bad decision to promote MR in the first place and he has changed the culture of this great parliament which is now filled with his thieves and criminals

They obviously come from people who did not live in the middle of their time and whose political judgment is poorly developed!
