Chamara Sampath further remanded till April 8

Colombo, April 1 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today ordered that former Uva Provincial Councillor and former Minister Chamara Sampath Dasanayake be further remanded till April 8 over the alleged withdrawal of six fixed deposits maintained by the Uva Provincial Council in a State bank at Badulla in 2016.

The Bribery Commission informed court that the investigations into the incident have not been concluded yet.

Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali directed the Bribery Commission to expedite the investigations against the suspect.

The Bribery Commission alleged that the withdrawal of these funds caused a loss of Rs. 173 million to the government and deprived the council of its due income.
