Central Province issues guidelines for events attended by Governor



Colombo, February 3 (Daily Mirror) - The Central Province Chief Secretary's office issued a letter today outlining measures to be followed during functions attended by the Central Province Governor.

The letter, referencing the Governor's Secretary’s communication No. GCP/07/6/20 and the letter dated February 20, specifies the necessary protocols for such events.

Accordingly, the following instructions must be observed at all events attended by the Governor:

  • All functions and programmes attended by the Governor should be conducted as regular events, without any welcoming ceremonies.
  • The National Anthem must be played in both Sinhala and Tamil during the ceremony.
  • If arrangements are being made for such programmes, local herbal drinks such as Iramusu, Belimal or Ranawara should be provided.
  • The letter further instructs all Ministries and institutions to adhere to these measures for all functions and programmes attended by the Governor.

Issued by the Chief Secretary of the Central Province, G.H.M.A. Premasinghe, copies of the letter were sent to all Ministry Secretaries, the Government Service Commission Secretary, the Council Clerk, the Council Clerk's Office, all Deputy Chief Secretaries, and all Department Heads of the Central Province.
