Parliament is to take up the second reading debate on the Central Bank Bill on July 20, a statement from the House quoted Secretary-General Kushani Rohanadeera said today.
It is expected that the government will present amendments in line with the Supreme Court recommendations. The Supreme Court in May said some clauses of the Bill are inconsistent with the Constitution.
On Friday, July 21 from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm the Second Reading of the Banking (Special Provisions) Bill will be taken up for debate.
Committee Stage of the Anti-Corruption Bill and the Assistance to and Protection of Victims of Crime and Witnesses Bill is expected to be taken up on Wednesday, July 19 from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm the debate has been scheduled for, the Secretary-General said.
