Cement prices can be decreased by another Rs.1,000

The recent drop in cement prices proves that prices are decided by a mafia of cement importers, Chairman of the National Construction Association Susantha Liyanaarachchi charged.

"If there is a dollar crisis in this country, stop importing cement. Cement is sold at a higher price by the importers, when the price of a bag of cement can be reduced further by Rs. 1000" he said. He urged the government strengthen local cement manufacturers by setting price controls.

Do not worry construction sectors have fallen due to sudden increase from 950 to 3000 rupees per bag cement .Cement producers and importers have to throw the cement to SL sea after sometime

Civil constructions of this country have come to a grim halt, mainly due to the abnormal price hiking of cement. This might be the result of a role of the racketeers involved in the trade. Government should appoint a committee to probe this abnormal price hiking of the so-called racketeers who commit riding the high-horse. Ultimate outcome of this malpractice has badly affected the country’s ailing economy depriving the jobs of individuals engaged in the construction industry.
