Local cement manufacturing companies have decided to announce Rs. 2,300 as their maximum retail price of a 50 kg bag of cement from today, Trade, Commerce and Food Security Minister Nalin Fernando said.

While addressing the media today, he said the decision was taken following several discussions held with the local cement manufacturing companies.

"We held many rounds of discussion with the cement manufacturing companies on the possibilities of reducing the minimum retail prices. The current maximum retail price maintained in the local market for a 50 kg bag of cement is Rs. 2,600," he said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
