Colombo, February 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Association of Veterinarians for Humane Management of Animal Population is encouraging the public to celebrate this Valentine’s Day (February 14) by providing food and water to starving stray dogs as they are our closest, most adorable, tail-wagging friends.
Dr. Chamith Nanayakkara, an advisor to the association, told the Daily Mirror that as dogs have always been humans’ best friends, it is time we spare a little effort to care for them in return.
He urged people to feed and show affection to stray dogs, who are often mistreated and neglected by society.
"While we’re busy with chocolates and roses, countless strays are just hoping for a kind heart and a full belly. Please make their day—feed a pup, give them some fresh water, or simply show them a little love. After all, kindness is the best gift of all," Dr. Nanayakkara said.
To mark the occasion, the association is organising a feeding initiative for starving stray dogs in the Anuradhapura Municipal area. Residents are encouraged to join the movement by feeding a stray dog in their neighborhood and tagging the association in their acts of kindness.
Let’s make this Valentine’s Day special—not just for us, but for them too!
