Catholic Church has not accepted Easter attacks proposals of NPP or SJB

Colombo, April 20 (Daily Mirror)- The Catholic Church has not accepted proposals of the National Peoples Power (NPP) or the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) over the probes into the Easter Sunday attacks, Member of the Communications Committee of the Archdiocese of Colombo, Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said today.

The SJB and NPP handed over the their proposals recently.

"We have to study the proposals of the SJB and NPP before deciding whether to accept them or not. It is true that the NPP and SJB handed over their proposals to the Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, but that does not mean the Church has accepted them," Fr. Fernando said.

He was responding to allegations by United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara who said on Friday that people have become suspicious whether the Cardinal is trying to promote political parties.

"Range Bandara was a State Minister of the Yahapalana government during whose tenure the Easter Sunday attacks took place. This particular government ruled this country for months after the April 2019 bomb attacks. Therefore, there was ample time for that government to carry out a proper probe," he said.

Also Fr. Fernando said other political parties are also welcome to hand in their proposals on the Easter Sunday attacks.

"Political parties are welcome to hand in their proposals to us rather than talking of proposals given by others," he said.

Why are you accepting proposals from political parties ?? What's your role in this criminal investigations ?? This itself is very suspicious. Its the duty of which ever government in power to get to the bottom. The previous governments have failed.

Do you representatives of Catholic church truly going to depend on proposals made by politicians. Proposals and promises are the bane of this untrustworthy local politicians awaiting to grab power by any means. However politicians are not necessary if the law enforcement is spotlessly clean but unfortunately it's not the case they got to stop dancing to the tune of politicians in power but that's the last thing that will happen here in Sri Lanka. Vicisious circle going round the mulberry bush and the band play on. God bless

Any Political Organisation has obligation to protect humans that is the main and very important part of politics which depends on the majority voters choice of the governing body from those political parties . As responsible political parties NPP and SJB have submitted their proposals if they elected to govern Sri Lanka how they going to find the master mind of the Easter attack. However Out of the two Political parties NPP is highlighted since they have not been in the government at the time of Easter Attacks on the soil of Sri Lanka and not anyway responsible for security because they are not in the government . But SJB members were in the government , same as other political parties such as UNP, SLPP and SLFP . Therefore more than any other political parties NPP's proposal could be trusted and worth looking in to it with hope of finding the truth as well as brining the heavy penalties for all responsible people under the law of the country .
