Colombo, July 26 (Daily Mirror) - A 27-year-old Canadian national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake after airport officials discovered hashish worth over Rs. 200 million concealed in his luggage.
The seized narcotics, valued at Rs. 201.89 million, weighed 20 kilograms and 117 grams, according to preliminary investigations. Officials said the contraband was discovered during a search of the suspect’s baggage after his arrival in Sri Lanka.
Investigators have found that the suspect allegedly purchased the narcotics in Toronto, Canada, before traveling to Doha, Qatar, and boarding a connecting flight to Sri Lanka. He arrived at the Katunayake airport at around 2:30 a.m. today (26) aboard Qatar Airways flight QR-662.
