Cabinet status for parliamentary committee chairpersons?

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has pledged to form a new administration and has also stressed the importance of giving powers to chairpersons of parliamentary committees similar to Cabinet Ministers.

President Wickremesinghe came out with these ideas when he met some party leaders last evening.

All Ceylon Makkal Congress led by MP Rishad Bathiudeen, TPA led by MP Mano Ganesan, SLMC led by Rauff Hakeem, parliamentary group led by Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and Tamil Makkal Thesiya Kuttani led by C. V. Vigneswaran participated in the discussion. (Yohan Perera)

Hakeem and Bathiyudeen cannot be trusted as it is their community members who without scruples vote for money. Remember that 18th Amendment was passed because Rauf Hakeem and Co. voted for it , and 20th Amendment was passed by a few of their community members crossing over and voting for it in the 11th hour.

ONE SET OF MINISTERS WHO WILL BE IN THE CABINET PROPER AND ANOTHER SET OF MINISTERS WHO WILL ENJOY CABINET STATUS HEADING THE PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES. THIS WILL BE RANIL'S STRATEGY TO PLEASE THE IDLING MPs and simultaneously hoodwink the public that the Cabinet is small.
